2. Never access email using an unknown network.

By default, email protocols send unencrypted text over the internet. The text can be read and reread as is crosses from router to router. Login credentials are unencrypted and can be read.

The network that shows as “Members Only – Airline Club Room” when you stop to check your email at the airport could be a total fraud set up to capture your credentials and correspondence.

Legitimate providers use secure networks and provide passwords. Even when you are offered a “public” network when visiting a business make sure the network is secured. #dataprivacy #internetsecurity #emailprivacy
